Rachel Howard, Owner/Head Trainer

Meet Rachel

Rachel's resume spans over 20 years of equestrian experience in multiple riding disciplines including eventing,  jumpers, western, gymkhana and rodeo, as well as extensive experience starting and training young horses through natural horsemanship. Rachel prioritizes instilling a culture of confidence and positivity in all aspects of her business, from the barn atmosphere to her style of teaching. Her passion lies in helping her students reach their goals, whether that be learning how to canter or taking a young horse up the levels of eventing. When not teaching, you can find Rachel spending time with her family, tending to her amazing pastures, or competing throughout Area IX  with her geldings Baloo and Truman.

Brittany Packard, Working student

Brittany Packard

Brittany started riding when she was 7 years old at a local eventing facility in Joppa, Maryland. She purchased her first horse Pepper at 19. While in college Brittany held several working student positions for Area II eventing professionals, and worked hard to move from a pile of poles on the ground to Modified  with Pepper. Brittany is now working on her bronze medal in dressage and is restarting her second off the track thoroughbred -Adonis- with Rachel. Brittany continues to live the working student life in order to expand her skills on the flat and over fences in order to be the best partner to her gelding Adonis. She aspires to open her own facility one day and is our resident working student in order to help her achieve this goal.  When she’s not working, Brittany can be found hiking or snowboarding in the mountains—or yelling at the TV in the fall while cheering on the Baltimore Ravens.

Hannah Isherwood - Assistant Trainer

Hannah Isherwood

Hannah began her riding career in Western disciplines and transitioned to Show Jumping in 2021. At 18, she purchased her first horse, Moose, and has since taken on the training of two promising horses: Ruemor, an off-the-track Thoroughbred, and Malibu, a paint horse she started from the ground up. Hannah is currently attending CSU pursuing her elementary education license and serves as a beginner and intermediate riding instructor at Sunrise, sharing her growing expertise and passion for riding with students.  When she’s not working, Hannah enjoys trail riding, checking out local breweries, listening to music, and treating herself to a fresh manicure.
